About Me
I was fortunate to grow up in the Washington DC area, addicted to exploring the museums. I gave my first tour of the National Air and Space Museum to family and friends when I was about 11.
I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, studying painting. I began my career producing exhibit graphics at the National Gallery of Art. It was there that I learned the discipline of production at the highest standards, and the critical importance of presentation in effectively telling a story to the public.
For over thirty years, I have built on this foundation and have created and produced work in subjects as diverse as modern and traditional African art, the physics of music, teaching STEM through the history of early aviation, teaching drawing by studying sculpture, the twin histories of jazz and powered flight, and many others.
I have worked with elementary schools and universities; partnered with institutions ranging from the National Park Service to the United States Army to the Folger Shakespeare Library. I have a long relationship with the Smithsonian Associates. I’ve written for the theater, been a commentator for radio, produced radio plays and documentary films. And I’ve been drawing all the while.
And I still love to give tours. As I have since I was 11.
